Ney Player

Safa Kağnıcı was born in 1988 in Konya, Turkey. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Konya. During high school, he began studying the ney (reed flute) with Ahmet Kırdiş Hoca, and later continued his training with various other teachers. He also studied with Yusuf Kayya, a ney artist affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In 2013, he was admitted to the Selçuk University Dilek Sabancı State Conservatory, where he took ney lessons from Neyzen M. Nuri Parmaksız. In 2018, he was accepted into the graduate program at the same university and successfully completed it in 2021. Throughout this period, he participated in various concerts and recitals both in Turkey and abroad as a ney performer. He currently teaches ney at the Özçimi Sanat Atölyesi and the Kasımpaşa Mevlevîhane in Istanbul. Having represented Turkish music in many cities through numerous concerts and cultural programs, Safa Kağnıcı successfully passed the artist recruitment exam held by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye in 2024. He has since been serving as a Ney player in the Istanbul Sufi Ceremonies Ensemble.
