
Yüce Gümüş

Born in İzmir in 1985, Yüce Gümüş began his musical journey at the age of ten, studying the oud under Tunca Yüksel, a renowned artist of TRT Izmir Radio. He completed his undergraduate studies in Turkish Classical Music at Afyon Kocatepe University State Conservatory and received his master’s degree from Haliç University Conservatory. Throughout his education, he studied under prominent masters including Arif Biçer, Yılmaz Yüksel, Prof. Mutlu Torun, Prof. Erol Deran, Prof. Dr. Alaeddin Yavaşca, Çetin Körükçü, and Prof. Dr. Murat Sâlim Tokaç. He also received spiritual inspiration in Sufi music from the great neyzen Niyazi Sayın. He has performed in numerous concerts and conferences across Türkiye and abroad. In 2009, he joined the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Istanbul State Turkish Music Research and Practice Ensemble. In 2013, he was appointed to the Ankara State Folk Dance Ensemble and subsequently served in various cultural directorates of the Ministry. He was later appointed Artistic Director of the Istanbul Sufi Ceremonies Ensemble. In addition to his directorship, he serves as a music advisor at Nun Schools and teaches Turkish classical music at Palet Turkish Music Primary School—the first primary school in Türkiye dedicated to Turkish music, which he co-founded. He is also the founder and editor of Kadem, a journal focused on music and literature. Since 2016, he has led numerous publications and cultural projects under the Istanbul Association for Sufi and Music Studies, which he also founded.
