Qanun Player

Born in 1987 in Van, Turkey, she completed her primary education in Antalya. In 2001, she was admitted to the Music Department of Antalya Anatolian Fine Arts High School, where she chose the qanun as her primary instrument and focused her training accordingly. In 2005, she was accepted with first place into the Traditional Turkish Music Department at Selçuk University Dilek Sabancı State Conservatory. During her studies, she received qanun training from Hakan Kılınçarslan and privately from the prominent virtuoso Göksel Baktagir. She graduated in 2010. In the same year, she began her professional career as a guest qanun artist at the Bursa State Classical Turkish Music Choir. In 2012, she began her Master’s studies at Haliç University Conservatory in the Turkish Music Department. During this time, she was mentored by masters such as Erol Deran and Mutlu Torun. In 2015, she was appointed as a qanun artist at the Sivas State Turkish Folk Music Choir. In 2018, she transferred to the Istanbul Meydan Meşkleri Ensemble under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and continues her role there to this day. In addition to numerous significant domestic concerts and countless TV programs, she has participated in the following: “Dost Mızraplar” concert at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall in 2009, organized by Göksel Baktagir and Yurdal Tokcan, International Qanun Festivals held in 2012 and 2015, “Etno Fusion” concert held in Kosovo in 2015. She has also represented Turkish music as a qanun performer in numerous international concerts and music festivals in the following countries: USA, Oman, Germany, UAE, Algeria, Azerbaijan, China, Syria, South Korea, France, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Cyprus, Romania, Hungary, Taiwan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Paraguay.
